"Heart of the Brave"

(1)
Vietnam, Vietnam: So judged with out true reflection.
Few things this Century have caused more contention;
Caught in this Nations battle, of a moral peace or war.
Her young men fighting, through bomb halts and more.
(2)
Like the children of old, knowing not yet of pain.
Your country had called, and without much refrain.
No questions were asked, like our fathers before.
For it mattered not questions, but of duty and more.
A strong sense of Country and Honor untold.
A burdensome call ..was answered, yet bold.
(3)
So many responded like men so respected.
Few ran, others studied, but some just objected.
Some gained from jobs, some studied the moon.
For the Vets then returning, careers had no room.
(4)
The scorn of a Nation so bent and confused.
War hero's return, feeling trashed and abused.
It was more than just war, your heart had to face.
It was a house not a home, a cold human race.
(5)
The congress, the press so slanted untrue.
Loyalty's bound up, pride and honor too.
Oh the Years have passed 25 too soon.
Brave Hearts still healing a deep open wound.
(6)
A nation still wanting for your return.
Wanting and waiting for your hearts to burn.
To defeat the process that has gone so wrong.
It's about Honor and Country, a Free children's song.
(7)
A time to make noise in the political bout.
To vote with your heart, make right with a shout.
It's time again to stand, so proud and true.
Stand once more proudly, for the Red White and Blue.
(8)
Your country still needs you, more than ever.
Communism, Socialism, We still say never.
Democracy stands so deep in your heart.
United we conquer, but defeated apart.
No more the warrior so brave and alone.
I say to your Brave Heart, your Welcomed Home.
I say to your Brave Heart, your Welcomed Home!

History:
After almost 30 years I heard from my old Unit the 114th.
The letter moved me to tears, realizing that after all that time
I still painfully lacked Closure to my own Vietnam experience!

While I looked through my old Pictures & Documents I came upon a
Poem I wrote in 1967, "Message to the Free" (hidden for 28yrs).

In light of all thoes stired memorys, 2 weeks later I wrote
"Heart of the Brave" to the Surviving Vet's and their Familys
with the hope of closure for each of them also!

Wisdom:
To every thing there is a season,
and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
A time to rend, and a time to sew;
a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate; time of war, and a time of peace.
Ecclesiates 3:2 to 8 kjv
